hey guys , Right, well, yes, we have an awesomekins plot to do with the Regime! But for the benifit of everyone out there, I was thinking it'd be helpful to have a thread up which listen all the Laws of the Regime, so all you Regime people knew sort of how to play your characters, and all you Rebellion peoples know what to expect off the Regime characters!
Now, Sarah, Ingrid and I are evil masterminds, but we can't do it all on our own! We'd love to hear some ideas for laws from you guys! It'd be really helpful! Also, there are already a couple of Ideas, so if you want, you could always comment on them and tell us how to improve!

ideas so far , - No sports, i.e Quidditch
- No Defense Against the Dark Arts
- Not allowed to love - your parents choose a fit spouse for you.
- Not allowed to talk about how you feel. You must always come across as happy / pleased. If not, you ought to go to St. Mungos and have sessions with a psychaiatrist.
- Avoid violence at all costs
- Burning of all books that were written before the Regime's reign. Only books that have been approved by the Regime are allowed to sit on shelves.
- Apparations are checked at random
- All wizards/witches must be employed
- All mail must pass through Regime checks.
- All fireplaces connected to the floo network will have tabs on them.
- We must all try to live in 'harmony' amongst the muggles.
- Public displays of affection are prohibited.
-Legitimency and occlumency are banned

Okay, so before I post, I must warn you that I am a history nerd, as well as a literature nerd. Here's my thoughts --
It might be interesting to have book-burnings -- The Regime would be keen to destroy all trace of any ideology other than its own. Like in Nazi Germany, these could be held under the pretence of the books themselves containing ideas "against the Phoenix spirit" or somesuch nonsense, as was used for the May 10th 1933 burnings.
An Ancient Greek law stated that A Man Must Not Be Idle (think it was Greek, but can't remember the dates... could be Roman). Could the Regime have an interest in keeping the populace working, and therefore unthinking?
It might be useful to look at other historical (or recent/current) dictatorships and tyrranies as well.

I also vote yes, Book burning would be interesting to use in the plot. You have something where members of the regime raid houses to find banned books or something. It could be called Book raids or something like that. Not sure but I love the idea, Sarah?

Not a problem. I actually had fun thinking them up... Maybe I should have had a regime character, I seem to be thinking a lot about these laws...
I was also thinking that taking Umbridge's school rules further might work. We've obvs. already got the teams and gatherings as well as the banning of DADA, but we can ramp it up. Random owl interceptions, and restrictions on travel with the monitoring of the floo network, as well as some way of regulating appirations, would keep the populace under control, and make it easier to catch known resistance members.
This would mean, however, that aurors could pop in to any thread in which an owl is sent, or someone apparates/floos. Although it could be fun for the plot.
The taboo could be fun to play with as well -- put one on the word 'resistance' or something similar that La Resistance use frequently, to trace those opposed to the mighty Albus and his good and proper, happy, smiley regime!!
I'll stop now, I promise.

This sounds completely inadequate next to the latest rules (damn you, you genius xD) but what about a ban on public displays of affection? They won't be wanting any fighting, and PDA might trigger that in some cases (unfaithful lovers and all that jazz) so they'll want to rule it out?

Yes, yes That's also an awesome idea. Hey I was thinking with the fact that people must control their thoughts that only a select few are allowed to perform legitimency and occlumency is banned as people are able to hide things if they're an occlumense.
